About me

Trained as a wooden boatbuilder, a luthier, and a cabinetmaker, I have run my own fabrication studio in Brooklyn for over 15 years. I enjoy building custom pieces for designers, sculptural work for artists, and working directly with clients. In addition, I enjoy teaching hand tool woodworking, passing on the skills I have learned while helping to share an appreciation for traditional practices and sustainable building. I believe that understanding how things are built helps us to value and repair objects, rather than merely to consume and replace them. I also hold a PhD in Philosophy from the New School for Social Research, and I teach the history of philosophy. I enjoy discussing how built objects help to inform our lived experiences. Please contact me for information about future projects, new ideas, or classes.
