About me
I’ve been working in wood since 1999. Trained as a wooden boatbuilder before becoming a cabinetmaker, I’ve run my own fabrication studio in Brooklyn since 2006. I specialize in solid wood furniture and custom millwork, working primarily in domestic hardwoods, by hand.
I build for designers, artists, and private clients. I also teach hand tool woodworking. Understanding how things are made helps us value them rather than replace them.
I hold a PhD in Philosophy from the New School for Social Research and teach at NYU. My writing on philosophy and craft is at parrhesiast.com.
